Disposable Fiction is a South Australian publishing house that focuses primarily on short literary works - for example, short stories; plays; and creative works, such as Tom Cho's 'Chinese Whispers'. Story is important - it deepens the pool of understanding from which we draw our conclusions. Many arguments win concurrence with analogy - this occurs because story provides a way for us to understand that which we have not experienced for ourselves: it creates common ground.
If we consider the author as a literary physicist who, through writing, develops and tests hypotheses relating to the unseen facts of life (those elements which, like the wind, cannot be seen - but can be known by their measurable effect) then perhaps, the short story is the literary equivalent of a microscope. |
We're not aiming to dominate the world with a single novel, or set of characters - we consider that too much power to be vested in a single pen. Instead, our goal is to promote the active and ongoing readership of a variety of stories. It is our view that fifteen paper cups will serve more people than a single glass can in the same time, for the same cost.
