The Disposable Fiction Prize for Contributory Literature
The prize is $500 and a written commendation. In addition, the winner will be honoured with a full page announcement of his or her achievement in our 2012 fiction anthology, where the prevailing work will be published, alongside the other top entries received. Up to three non-monetary commendations will be awarded to runners-up, who will also be acknowledged in the anthology. All short-listed entries will be published, and the authors of those entries will be invited to submit a brief bio to accompany their work.
This is a great opportunity for new, and emerging, Australian authors to showcase their work and nudge their way into the market.
For more information, see the 'Prize Details' page.

We accept unsolicited short stories and short plays (max 5000 words). These can be submitted at any time via the submissions form on the site and, if accepted, will be published as e-books. We offer a royalty payment of 50% to the authors of these works. Please do not send hard copies of unsolicited works.
From time to time, we will invite submissions for hard copy publications. Content briefs and guidelines for those submissions will be posted on this page. If you would like to be alerted on these occasions, please join our mailing list.
We do not accept poetry submissions. At present, we do not have a poetry editor on our team, and we will not insult poets by subjecting their work to the critique of ill-informed opinion. We hope to incorporate poetry as we progress in this venture.
Disposable Fiction accepts no liability for unsolicited manuscripts. Unsolicited works, apart from those specified above, will not be read or responded to.

If we offer to publish your work, it will become part of an anthology that is intended to be a slice of history, based on this particular day. We hope to produce a well-rounded collection of perspectives, beliefs, and ideas that showcase our diversity and the threads of similarity that unite and divide us, in an ever changing world.
The competition is open to persons over 18 yrs, who are resident in Australia on February 21st, 2012.
